Training for Regional Competitions Indiaskills 2018
After an 8-day training period, I traveled to Bangalore for the Southern India Regional competition, which took place on June 20, 2018. At the competition venue, I had the opportunity to meet the jury members, including Shaik Saifulla, an electronics expert for India in WorldSkills.
During the competition, I competed against 10 people from different states in South India, all of whom were their respective state's top performers. While I enjoyed the journey and trying new food, I didn't have any expectations of winning at the time.
simply focused on presenting my expertise in electronics and was surprised to hear my name announced as the winner of the Gold award at the closing ceremony. I was overwhelmed by the win and didn't expect it, so I really appreciated the moment.

After the competition, a guy from Delhi and I were declared the Gold and Silver winners, respectively. When I returned home, I did some research on WorldSkills and the competitions, and was amazed by the scale of the international competition. This motivated me to take my journey more seriously and train harder.
Our next level of training was planned in Bangalore at UTL Technologies, where I had the opportunity to receive guidance from Shaik Saifulla for a period of 15 days. All the participants who were selected from the other regional competitions were also scheduled to attend this training, so we all met in Bangalore. It was a great experience meeting the other winners and exchanging knowledge with them, although I found embedded systems programming to be a challenge. However, my fellow competitors were helpful in boosting my confidence.
The Indiaskills National competition took place on October 2, 2018, and I had the opportunity to meet my fellow competitors again at that time. During the competition, I did my best in every module except for embedded systems programming, where I struggled to even initialize simple tasks and ran out of time. Out of the four tasks, I was unable to complete at least one, which would have brought me closer to winning a medal. However, I was unable to do so and lost my chance to win. It was then that I realized the importance of practicing in embedded systems in order to succeed. 😥
Although it was disappointing to fail, I took it positively and congratulated Ujwal and Manoj, who were announced as the Gold and Silver winners at the national level.
And it's kind of full stop for my journey to Worldskills 🥲.
National Competitions Indiaskills 2018
Recognizing my weaknesses and mistakes, and also having the eligibility to participate in the upcoming WorldSkills Shanghai 2020 competition, I decided to focus on improving my skills as much as possible in the next two years.
Gaining significant industry experience in a manufacturing setting while completing my bachelor's degree helped me to increase my understanding of practical embedded systems and industrial electronics manufacturing. I began learning embedded programming from the basics, covering all major microcontroller families and working with as many sensors and peripherals as possible. Continuing my bachelor's thesis project on a complex embedded project also allowed me to learn and practice C programming.
After preparing for another competition, the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted plans and caused the WorldSkills Shanghai competition, which was supposed to take place in 2020, to be postponed until 2022. This also resulted in national competitions being delayed further than originally planned.
Indiaskills 2021
As before, I participated in the competition with five other competitors from Southern states and won the Gold award, qualifying me for the national competition once again. This time, my only wish is to represent India in the WSC Shanghai 2021 competition.
Knowing that the national competition would not be as easy as previous ones, I made sure to prepare for worst conditions. This time, I was working as a Hardware Engineer at Eruvaka Technologies and incorporated tasks related to electronics into my work environment to keep my skills sharp.

The national competition this time was a new experience, as there was a training session organized for the regional winners in Delhi at Sahasra EMS Industry. On the first day of the training session, I met the other regional winners and enjoyed interacting with them. They were wonderful people and as we spent more time together during the training, our bond grew stronger. We had a great time exploring the streets of Noida, trying street food, traveling on the metro, and participating in fun activities. They were also very supportive during the training, helping me out in cases where I was struggling.
The Indiaskills 2021 National Competition was scheduled to take place in Delhi from January 6, 2022, for about a week. Unlike previous competitions, this one had a more friendly atmosphere and I enjoyed the journey a lot with such amazing people. At the time, I didn't realize that the people I met there would become some of the most important people in my life. I focused on presenting my best at the competition by avoiding mistakes, and surprisingly, it always worked for me.
Although I wasn't particularly excited, I was very happy and lucky to hear my name announced as the Gold winner in Electronics at the national level. The journey to WorldSkills Shanghai is not over yet, and I am glad to still be on the road to my destination.
